14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
One of the first things that I learned in school, besides finger painting, was cause and effect. In science, I learned for every action there is an equal reaction. We studied it in English and we learned it from history. Is there any question that cause and effect would be in the
If my people, which are called by my name – We as a church and we as a people need to be reminded as to who we are. We are the children of God, with his name written on our hearts. If our daddy is the God of the universe then the old saying of, “my daddy can beat up your daddy,” is very much true and alive.
Shall humble themselves – We also need to realize that we are not as great as we think we are. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. There is none righteous, no not one. Without God, we are not even dust.
Pray – This goes along with humbling because you are asking for something that you cannot do for yourselves. Pray, Praise, Prepare for God. Establish, and then maintain an active form of communication between you and God.
Seek my face – Matthew 6:33: Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. Hebrews 11:6:he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Turn from their wicked ways – This can be summed up in one word; REPENTANCE. We, collectively and I, individually, need to repent. In the military, we used a command while marching called “about face.” What this meant was that we change from the current direction we are on and turn completely around from it. That is what repentance is.
We need change and change starts with us. Change doesn’t just happen. Look at what this verse says, IF…THAN. If we shall humble ourselves, and pray, and seek his face, and turn from our wicked ways THAN, God will hear from Heaven, forgive us our sins and heal our land, and our land is in desperate need of healing.
