Sermon of the Week

Edition 4: Sermon of the Week

John 14:1-3 –   “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

In this day and age and in this climate, finding hope and positivity is as compared to striking oil or finding gold. Everyone wants it, yet so few attain it. They strive to find it wherever they can. They look for it on Facebook and other social media; not there, just hate and negativity. They look for it on the news; not their either, just heartache and fear. They talk to their friends and family; not going to find it, because they are just a hopeless and miserable as you. There is an old hymnal that goes “Where could I go but to the Lord; Where could I go oh where could I go; Seeking the refuge for my soul; Needing a friend to save me in the end; Won’t you tell me; Where could I go but to the Lord.”

Jesus had just told his disciples that he was leaving. The depression and the hopelessness set in for them and they could not see any positive outcome.  Jesus said, “Yes, I am leaving for a while.” Then he continues with my favorite saying of Jesus, “BUT.” “I am leaving, BUT I am going to come back for you.”

“I am going to die, BUT I am going to rise from the dead.”

“You will be persecuted for my name’s sake, BUT never fear I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

“In this world you will have tribulation, BUT be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

You see, regardless of how bad things can get, BUT JESUS. He will always overcome and bring you the peace and love you need; that where he is, there you will be also.

So turn off Facebook and put your face in the book. This way you will always see a positive outcome.
