Charleston, WV – Richwood High School performed well at the WVSSAC Region 3A Track and Field Championships yesterday evening, May 9, 2019, at Laidley Field Stadium.
Senior Isaac Blake finished in third place in the long jump event, which qualified him to compete in the state track meet. Along with that, Blake also performed well in the 400-meter dash, placing second in his section.
In addition to him, freshman Trey Stanley had a good day, as well. Stanley finished third in the 3200-meter run, which also qualified him to compete in the state meet.
Senior Hunter Amick stood out in the shot put event. He competed against 16 other competitors, finishing second overall.
Sophomore Doye Ward killed it in the discus throw event. Ward finished in second place, which qualified him for the state track meet, as well.
Next to qualify was senior Jacob Mazzella. Mazzella finished in first place in the high jump event, and he also qualified for the state meet in the 200-meter dash.
After that, Richwood’s girls 4×800-meter dash relay team, which consists of sophomore Rylee Shinn, sophomore Quinn Raffo, senior Sidney Hacker, and senior Caitlin Cowell, finished in third place in their heat, also qualifying them for the state meet.
Lastly, to end the meet, Richwood’s girls 4×400-meter dash relay team, consisting of sophomore Quinn Raffo, sophomore Rylee Shinn, sophomore Raeana Green, and senior Sidney Hacker, finished in third place in the finals heat, which qualified them for the state meet.
The WVSSAC State Track and Field Championships will take place May 17-18, 2019, at Laidley Field Stadium in Charleston, West Virginia.
