RHS: Student-Athlete Jumps to the State Track Meet

Richwood, WV – The WVSSAC Region 3A Track and Field Championships took place today, May 9, 2019, at Laidly Field Stadium.

At the meet, one Richwood High School athlete stood out: Senior Jacob Mazzella.

Mazzella, one of the best high jumpers in both Single-A and the state of West Virginia, has crushed his opponents at nearly every track meet this season. This evening, he did nothing different.

In the high jump event, against four other competitors, Jacob Mazella’s first jump was recorded as 5’4″, which placed first amongst the other athletes. In his second attempt, Mazzella jumped 5’6″. Lastly, the senior’s third jump was a tall 5’8″.

The Richwood High School senior placed first in the region, tallying a total of ten points. Jacob Mazzella will be representing Richwood High School in the state track meet, which begins May 17, 2019, and will take place at Laidley Field Stadium.
